Credit worthiness
You need to check the credit-worthiness of the bank you choose. This means you need monitor for any warning signs of possible bankruptcy. Warning signs include:
- Higher interest rates and/or lower credit limits than normal compared to similar banks.
- Sudden limitations on withdrawals or transfers.
- Irregular, delayed or incomplete bank statements.
- Significant changes in bank personnel.
- Suspicious ownership or takeover issues arising.
- Suggestions from other financial institutions, donors or the authorities that the bank is not reliable.
